How do I measure the circumference of my head?

Measure the circumference of your head in centimetres by wrapping the tape around your head level with your eyebrows. Please provide us with the measurement in centimetres when placing your order as it may be possible to fit you with a half-size.

• Size 1 is suitable for circumferences of 55 - 58 cm (this is the most popular size for ladies)
• size 2 is suitable for circumferences of 58 - 61 cm

I currently still have some hair, will this affect the size I need?

Providing you do not have a lot of thick hair it should not make a difference to the measurement. It is therefore not necessary to order a larger size.

The given sizes don’t fit my head, what should I do?

This isn’t a problem as we can make a hat to order! Without any extra cost, of course!

What should I do if the hat is too big?

If the hat is (a little) too big you can reduce the size slightly by sewing one or two little seams at the back of the neck next to the strip of elastic.

However, if the hat is falling down over your eyes, you will need a smaller size or a hat made to order. This is also not a problem - please send us a mail. There is always an answer.

What should I do if the hat is too small?

If the hat is too tight or too small, you should always exchange it and not suffer in silence as experience shows that it will not get looser over time. Making an exchange is no problem at all ...

Can I return or exchange my hat?

This is no problem at all. Just return the hat, explaining what you require and you will be sent a replacement hat as soon as possible. When returning an item, please ensure that you don’t forget to let us know your bank details so we can return your money. We do not exchange or accept the returns of custom-made items or worn items.

How long does it take to receive the item?

Delivery usually occurs within 1-2 days after payment has been received. This is possible because the hats are usually available in stock. Delivery will only take longer in exceptional circumstances, e.g. for bespoke items. This can take up to a week.

I need the item to be delivered quickly. What can I do?

If you need an item urgently you should select cash on delivery (C.O.D.). While this will incur a 4 euro C.O.D. charge, it is usually shipped the same day.

What fabrics are used?

The fabrics used depend on the season. The summer hat is usually made of cotton and linen while the winter hat is made of panne velvet (polyester) or a heavier weave linen or cotton.  Silk is usually used for Style 2, or occasionally cotton. Style 4 is made from the fabric of your choice.

The night cap is made of cotton containing a small amount of elastane, necessary to guaranty the hat keeps its shape.

Can I wear the hat when cycling?

Of course. You can even wear "gut behütet" headwear in an open-top sports car. The strip of elastic at the back of the neck ensures the hat is always a snug fit and stays firmly on your head, letting you feel comfortable and confident.

How do I wash my hat?

Always wash your hat by hand. Simply use a gentle detergent in the sink, give the hat a quick squeeze and lay flat to dry. The night cap should also be washed by hand the first time but from then on it may be washed at 30 degrees (no hotter!) in the washing machine.

Never place the hat in a tumble dryer!
